AMIR ALEXANDER (3 hour set/Newcastle debut)

“I mix records…… I make tracks….. I dance to good underground club music” (Amir Alexander, RA).

AMIR ALEXANDER (Vanguard Sound, Anunnaki Cartel) is headlining Backdrop @ World Headquarters on Saturday 17th October. Vanguard Sound’s takeover of Berghain’s Panorama Bar, Amir’s regular Secretsundaze highlight performances and recent DC10 invitation alongside Ben UFO & DVS1 cement him as a leading light in underground dance music today. A Newcastle debut is long overdue!

His debut LP, “Love and Fear!”, highlights his emotional connection with the music he creates and with the audiences that revel in his extended vinyl sets. It can be streamed for free below, however we strongly recommend buying it on wax! Having DJ’d in Chicago since ’93, Amir’s classic synthesizers and drum machines pay homage to his old school roots. An adventurous and technically gifted producer, his jazz and acid infusions actively advance and challenge perceptions of what divides house and techno. Transcending modern genre tags, this beautiful debut both blows up the dancefloor and holds you close through deeper moments. His passionate and hard-working approach continue to protect and unite the culture we all hold so dear.

A true warrior of authentic and underground sounds, Backdrop welcome you to join Amir Alexander on a gripping journey through 20 years of collecting, selecting and creating. All in Newcastle’s most respected, independent nightclub for atmosphere and sound – World Headquarters. BomBa (Backdrop residents) in support. First 50 tickets only £8, £10 thereafter. Months of excitement loom, come and make Amir feel at home, it’s going to be huge!
