Luz – Room 4 Resistance (Berlin)
Speaking and DJing at Backdrop Sounds Of Solidarity : The Power & Politics of Dance Music
Luz Diaz is the founder of Room 4 Resistance – a Berlin-based queer forward collective focused on community-building and creating space & visibility for women, gender queers, non-binaries, trans people, black people & people of colour in Dance Music. Room 4 Resistance takes place every 2 months at ://about blank.
In addition to her training as a film director at I.N.S.A.S (Brussels), Luz has been deeply involved in the electronic music scene for over a decade, first as a promoter in her native Belgium and
then working for several labels and booking agencies in Berlin where she is now based. Since 2015, Luz has focused on DJ-ing and promoting Room 4 Resistance alongside a crew of friends
& resident DJ’s: rRoxymore, Doc Sleep, Yuko Asanuma, Purita D. and LMGM (aka Luis-Manuel Garcia). Luz is also a resident DJ at a R4R and runs a monthly radio show on Cashmere Radio
alongside DJ Doc Sleep.
Room 4 Resistance celebrates musical diversity, sexualities, bodies, races, queer solidarity and community — which involves the audience as much as the DJs and promoters.
R4R aims to feature women, gender queers, non-binaries, trans people, black people & people of color in leadership roles, without limiting itself to these categories.
It also aims to create a warm & safe space for everyone involved, to focus on community-building and create bridges between different communities.
Room 4 Resistance is a “family night” of queer friends and friendly strangers…
